Zeal secure a new client in the health care sector

Work has commenced on building a brand for our new client in the health care sector. The well-established company have appointed Zeal to work with them on their brand structure, positioning, identity and ultimately help to create a greater brand awareness around the company.

We’re currently in the process of interviews with their internal and external stakeholders – discovering what people think about them and what challenges they’re facing. We’ll also find out where they’re poised against competition and will be looking at different and potentially new target audiences for their business and how an approach might be made to enter new markets.

It’s an exciting project for us and we’d love to tell you more, but check back in a few months and all will be revealed!

Photography for Officescape, in Felixstowe

Had an afternoon trip to sunny Felixstowe on Friday to photograph a new office installation for Officescape.

Part of their project was to hang photographic prints of images captured from around the dock.

I had a bit of fun creating a real 14 star sun burst, without the use of filters or the need for Photoshop!

Website completed for Haskett Landscaping

Zeal have refreshed the old logo and created a new brand and website with a user-friendly CMS for landscape gardening company, Haskett.

The brief was to keep the overall look and feel quite traditional, with a neutral, earthy colour palette and the new website showcases Haskett’s gardening projects beautifully.

The scale of their projects differs with each client yet there’s always an emphasis on high quality and personal service, which is reflected throughout the website.

Went to see Rihanna last night at the O2 London – she’s incredibly fit (athletic!) Great atmosphere, she knows how to put on a show!

Daz ‘Tin Man’ Gee

Just entered myself for an IronMan distance triathlon. What was I thinking? I run, cycle but can’t swim, but I guess that’s what arm bands are for…

Will be training for the big event from now on, it’s a shame Christmas is right around the corner!

Oops!... He did it again

After a tricky decision, one of Zeal’s founding partners, Paul Dymond, has decided to up sticks and move back to Dyson in rural Wiltshire.

Paul has been a fantastic Creative at Zeal, business partner to Darren and mentor to Emma for the past 6 years and, though he shall be missed, Zeal will keep on truckin’ as an exciting and dynamic design business. All of the work undertaken at Zeal always has, and always will be, based around a team effort.

Paul’s leaving ‘do’ happened to fall on the same night as a Britney Spears concert, so what better way to finish than with a dirty burger and mime-a-long to the princess of pop!

We wish Paul all the best for the future and apologise for putting him through the Britney gig (though we’re sure he loved it really!)

Brand new catalogues for BrandArt

Following on from the success of last year’s product catalogues, Zeal were once again commissioned by BrandArt to design the new set for 2012.

The look and overall design for the 2012 catalogues evoked the feeling of quality products, a fun personality and great customer service. More product ranges were introduced this year, including the brightly coloured Zing range and the introduction of Crazy Crystals.

We came up with new and exciting brand imagery, including the abstract rainbow slinky shot which was used on the ringbinder cover and subsequently rolled-out across other promotional items.

This client also wanted a simple website to showcase their products to customers, without giving too much away to potential competitors. The result is a neat online portfolio of products.

In the last quarter of 2010, Zeal were appointed by Ellisons Solicitors, one of the largest and longest established legal firms in East Anglia, to re-design their website following a four way credentials pitch.

The new website, due to launch late March 2011, provides a new approach to the company’s presence online delivering a vast resource of information, profiles and contact details to their target audiences.

Since commencing this project, Zeal have also been asked to carry out a brand re-positioning exercise and identity re-design along with roll-out across a wide range of communications and marketing materials.

Brand identity creation for Lucentum sub-brands

Following their re-brand and re-launch back in 2009, Lucentum continue to work with Zeal to launch and roll-out 2 sub brands, Lucentum Wealth and Lucentum Financial Solutions both of which have led to the design of literature and websites. Freedom Marketing. On-line credit card comparison

Zeal were approached by Freedom Marketing in December 2010 to design new product tables for their on-line credit card comparison products.

University & Design Industry Partnership Scheme

Paul Dymond of Zeal has been appointed chair of the engagement team within the BDI’s University partnership initiative.

The initiative has been created to create stronger links between design academia and the design industry and the role of the engagement team is to ensure understanding, clear communication and buy-in from all stakeholder groups.

Zeal win new client – Haskett Landscaping

Zeal are delighted to have been selected to create a new website for Landscape Design and Countryside Management firm, Haskett based in Fyfield near Ongar.

The new site will help the business in their efforts to raise their profile and market their unique skills – they are one of a small number of qualified hedge layers left in the country. The work was won following a 3 way credentials pitch.

BrandArt New Catalogue

BrandArt are a leading supplier of branded merchandise to top visitor attractions both in the UK and around the rest of the world.

A catalogue is produced each year which showcases the products that Brand Art supply and Zeal were approached to create the 2011 catalogue.

We took a different approach to previous years , focussing on the quality of the products themselves and the excitement associated with visitor attractions. The solution therefore comprised of simple layouts and new photography of every product (all shot by Zeal) to emphasise their key features. We also worked closely with the client to understand their key audienecs and created a system allowing the distribution of catalogue packs to be tailored to suit specific customer groups.

The new approach has had a very positive impact and new key clients have subsequently been won.

Brand or Bland?

How do you know if your brand is a bit old hat? Have you checked lately?

We are finding that brands are rising slower and falling faster as brand owners are hoping that they have done enough and that the creative spark that originally brought their brand to life is still alight.

Without a secure platform to work from, keeping brands ahead of their competition in both relevance for their audiences as well as general interest levels, is putting a huge strain on the marketing budget. The competition is getting tougher, the market is more saturated than you had first thought and there are new entrants every day. So how do you survive?

We work with brand owners to deliver three essential elements to ensure that the brand is working harder, these being

  Focus
  Creativity
  Consistency

Focus is being clear about what it is you want the brand to do, how it will support the business plan and how it will help provide growth to the business.

Creativity is then vital to break through the competitive static, deliver clear and relevant messaging as well as providing clues as to the behaviours expected internally.

Consistency is delivering on the brand time and time again to ensure that what you stand for is embedded in the minds of your target audience so that at their point of decision you are top of mind. The brand is a way of creating trust to help clients or customers in their selection and the maintenance of this trust is vital regardless of the prevailing conditions.

Here at Zeal we deliver the brand platform through a framework that details and describes the attributes of the brand and how they can be employed inside the business to make it stronger as well as a springboard for growth.

So, how strong is your platform?

Decisions, decisions…

What actually makes us pick one brand over another?  How do we as consumers or clients navigate the ever increasing level of choice that is open to us?

In the current market, where chaos seemly reigns, brands are the shorthand for decision making. They are the sign posts that we use to first identify and then select the right product or service. Once a brand is understood it provides the ideal way to reduce any perceived risks in future purchases. But what is it about the brand that helps at this stage of the decision process?

The identity component has helped create standout and visibility but that only goes as far as arriving at the product or service, so how do we make that final decision? If you believe recent research, your gut has already decided. You somehow already know which product you are going to buy, all you have to do is justify it to yourself (or others). At Zeal, we like to think that the brand is about trust and that you either trust it or you don’t depending your prior experience.

We are increasingly using the trust (brand) mark to overcome our inability to make a rational decision and what we feel about the brand now counts even more towards reducing our nervousness at the final point of purchase.

To build a brand to work as a ‘decision tool’ Zeal helps to

Create meaning   Consistently communicate this meaning

This seems easy on the face of it but requires focus, creativity and strong management to build the meaning in to something that can be used by and more importantly acted upon by your target audiences.

So is trust the ‘Holy Grail’ in branding and can you count on yours to help make that all important purchase decision?

The Smile Centre, new name and identity

How an image update can change perception and boost business without damaging an established family practice.

Over the past 30 years Churchview Dental Care had traded under a predictable but safe image that was seen to reflect family-centered values. Using a ‘church view’ as their identity, however, would not allow the practice to move forward into the important new areas of dental care technology and the fashionable cosmetic dentistry with all it has to offer.

It was important to develop a new name and identity that would hold on to the values of a family-led business, but that would also reflect all that modern dentistry has to offer in a friendly, relaxed but professional manner. The new name, The Smile Centre, and its fresh, clean image has succeeded in attracting a new and diverse customer base and has been welcomed by existing customers. The Smile Centre is to enter ‘Most Improved Practice’ in the Private Dentistry Awards this year.

Creative East Awards, Finalist

Zeal are very proud to have been selected as a finalist in this year’s Creative East Awards for branding, design and photography work created for our client Ultimate Boot Camp.
Hosted by writer and presenter Clive Anderson, the awards celebrate the best in design in the Eastern region.

Lakehouse - Exhibition Stand Design

Lakehouse is an established service provider with key focus in the affordable housing, education, community and healthcare sectors.
A forward-thinking company, they value long term client relationships as a key factor in their current success and have an enviable reputation for delivering a quality product, on time and on budget.

Zeal was commissioned to design and build Lakehouse’s exhibition stand for the recent Chartered Institute of Housing’s (CIH) South East annual exhibition, held in Brighton. The appointment came through the client’s recognition of Zeal’s extensive experience within the housing and service provider sector. Emphasis was on the ability to create stand-out in an exhibition that brings together nearly 6,200 housing professionals, together with 350 key suppliers, all under one roof.

“There was real excitement about the Lakehouse stand - it was bright, colourful, welcoming, and better still, fun! Exhibition attendees were keen to find out more about what we do as a company and wanted to know how we came up with the idea of the tree, which we used to represent the growth and development of communities. We were situated in a difficult position but the tree enabled us to differentiate ourselves and stand out from other typically corporate stands, it was a real talking point. Using ‘stick-on’ leaves as a means of gathering information was both innovative and unconventional and has given us the valuable feedback we need for evaluation. We have since made use of the pop ups and they are proving to be good value for money. Our Chief Executive was over the moon and has asked me to pass on his thanks.”

With this ability we knew they would be perfect to work with the UBC team in our mission to deliver real market differentiation in a crowded and challenging ‘Boot Camp’ market. Integrity and speed to market was essential in getting us the bookings we needed to fill the first two camps. The simplicity and immediacy of the whole communications package has helped us to very quickly secure these bookings. Ujima exhibition wins design award

Following the launch of their new brand identity earlier this week, Ujima and Zeal have been awarded the best stand design whilst exhibiting at the National Housing Conference in Birmingham.
Zeal designed the exhibition graphics and stand layout and handled the installation at the conference. Emma Scott, one of the very talented designers at Zeal said “Fantastic news! We’ve put a lot of hard work into Ujima and we’re delighted with the results. To then have our efforts recognised and rewarded like this is the icing on the cake.”

Ujima senior management are delighted too; as for them this week has marked a new beginning for the business as they move ahead with a new structure, renewed vigour, and of course a new brand identity.

EADS, Airbus Campus visit, Toulouse, France

As part of a project initiated by The Security Company, Zeal’s Creative Director and co-founder Paul Dymond was invited to present initial design concepts for the branding of an employee focussed security initiative to key decision makers from EADS.

EADS is a global leader in aerospace, defence and related services. The Group includes the aircraft manufacturer Airbus, the world’s largest helicopter supplier Eurocopter and EADS Astrium, the European leader in space programmes from Ariane to Galileo. EADS is the major partner in the Eurofighter consortium, develops the A400M military transport aircraft, and holds a stake in the joint venture MBDA, the international leader in missile systems.

On his return, Paul had this to say “Our conceptual work was generated in isolation from the client and from a written brief so presenting to an unfamiliar, pan-European audience was, at first, a little daunting. It was extremely useful however, to experience the reaction and get feedback first hand. As with all projects that we undertake, working together with our clients is crucial if our work is to have any real resonance and, as part of the challenge in this particular instance is understanding the internal culture at EADS, my brief but informative glimpse into what makes them tick will prove to be hugely beneficial throughout the design development stages.”
